Parody

[edit]

OK, so when are we gonna see the Donkey punch.BAS parody? --24.168.71.81 05:19, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The operating system was released as PC-DOS when included with IBM PCs and MS-DOS when sold separately by Microsoft. Both included versions of Microsoft BASIC

Surely the BASIC was in ROM, not with the OS ? Wizzy 07:19, Feb 2, 2005 (UTC)

Actually both. The ROM-based BASIC interpreter, which your machine would boot into if no disk was in the drive, was a minimal version. PC-DOS shipped with "Advanced BASIC", or BASICA.COM as everyone knew it. Of course, once everyone had hard drives, seeing ROM BASIC show up meant that your drive had died. DNKYPNCH.BAS

[edit]

I've removed the following paragraph which was added by 24.168.71.81:

There are rumors of a flash-based parody game that combines Donkey and Custer's Revenge into DNKYPNCH.BAS.

I think this is a joke but if it's a real rumour it could be restored with a reference. Google web and groups searches for that name don't return anything. Andy Smith (talk) 01:05, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)

2 images

[edit]

OK, I've looked at the GWBasic and QBasic images side by side, and besides the fact that the two shots show the game with different scores, and with donkey and car in different positions, I cannot make out the slightest difference. Assuming that there IS a difference it must be quite slight so why is it worth even mentioning, let alone illustrating with 2 images?!? --Ericjs (talk) 04:35, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are differences. Look at the front of the car, and the tail of the donkey. I have absolutely no idea why this is notable, plus it looks like original research. If anything, it would make more sense in the QBasic article. 58.172.176.120 (talk) 12:36, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
