We should have a short section on the constitutional role and position of the provinces - I do not actually know much about this hence i have not added much - is teh govenor elected or put in by central governmnet. Is there anything like aprovincial parliament/council etc ? more generic information of this kind would be useful Refdoc 13:20, 28 Jul 2004 (UTC)

There is no mention of the provinces in the constitution, IIRC. The governor is installed by the Minister of Interior (it may also need the approval of the President, I'm not sure). But there are provincal councils that are elected from the directly elected city and village councils of the region. roozbeh 13:57, Jul 29, 2004 (UTC)

Merger from Ostan (Geography)

[edit]

Ostan (Geography) should probably be a redirect here, there is no need for a separate stub which is primarily definitional. --Bejnar 16:54, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No need for redirect or merge - I moved the article to a proper title of Ostan (subnational entity), being that it is an official subnational entity. Rarelibra 20:46, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Ostan (subnational entity) article is just a stub and says nothing that the main article does not say. Why not just a redirect? --Bejnar 23:14, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of Provinces of Iran

[edit]

I made this page yesterday. I don't think that it should be merged because it has potebtial to become a Featured List.Ardeshire Babakan (talk) 18:31, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please reply, what provinces of modern Iran correspond to former Araq-e-Ajam. Thanks in advance, -- Zara-arush (talk) 22:20, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
