Inappropriate citation template for the old TTY bulletins

[edit]

I have raised a challenge to the fact that {{cite document}} has been redirected to {{tl:cite journal}} and consequently (if the material cited is not an academic journal) the citation is being changed to {{cite web}}, which is nonsensical for a 1938 document. For discussion, see Help talk:Citation Style 1/Archive 81#"Cite document" needs its own template. Redirecting to cite journal is illogical and unfriendly. More eyes welcome. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 12:38, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The outcome of that discussion was that, while the argument has merit, there are far more serious issues with (ab)use of {{cite journal}} that have to be resolved first. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 09:59, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unless anyone objects, i propose to change the infobox from {{Infobox punctuation mark}} to {{infobox symbol}}. The proposed new version is shown here. Comments? John Maynard Friedman (talk) 18:16, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I should give my reasons:
  1. I have never seen the symbol used for punctuation
  2. The appearance of the symbol infobox is neater, IMO but then again wp:Mandy Rice-Davies applies, since I wrote it. But I do think that the sizes of the symbols are more in keeping with the body text size.
  3. This infobox provides the Unicode code-points
Enough? --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 00:40, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Please use WP:BRD if not content. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 14:18, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
