Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:Rfp)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Weeks of edit warring, plus sock puppet and vandalism accusations. No attempt to discuss on talk page by any involved. Escape Orbit (Talk) 09:31, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – ARBPIA. Jdcomix (talk) 15:37, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Not directly related to the current conflict. Daniel Case (talk) 21:19, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: constant persistent vandalism by User talk:DraupadiPandavas (latest sock account of User: Kairakairav). Warnings given, no response, others pages like Kunti, Pandu, Madri were earlier requested as well. Banning the user doesnt help as sockmaster make similar disruptive edits using diff alt accounts and IPs..245CMR.👥📜 19:45, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Extended-confirmed protection: Consistent disruptive editing by IP users and DraupadiPandavas (talk · contribs) after previous protection gor over including removal of several key characters played by less recognised actors and cameo characters played by recognised actors and addition of fake information for several characters by removal of actual information. Please protect this page from this particular User DraupadiPandavas (talk · contribs) too as she is also constantly doing same disruptive editing like IP users. Pri2000 (talk), 23:58, 07 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

      • Commemt: User: DraupadiPandavas(talk) is a sockpuppet of consistent sockpuppet user from around years Kairakairav. So consistent disruptive edits are done by this sockpuppet and other IP users.

Reason: On 6 January 2023 at 20:14, a user with IP address 50.100.114.7 (no username) snuck in a false nickname for the town of Hawkesbury, "Birthplace of Andrew Alberts-Scherer". This went unnoticed until July 13 2024 when I randomly decided to look up this Andrew person, and discovered they are not a person who is significant to Hawkesbury's history or culture. The official Town of Hawkesbury website also has no reference to this person. I removed the false nickname; but as of today, the false nickname has been added back SIX times, by username Oliverfoster27 as well as another user 209.171.85.162. Someone is doing this on purpose intentionally, and I don't know why or what their intention is. I am asking for your help to protect this Wikipedia page and stop this repeated vandalism I have had to continuously undo. I am not sure how else to stop this. Thank you. Justanothereditor22 (talk) 01:13, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: High level of vandalism from IP addresses. 18fructidor (talk) 02:45, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Drmies (talk) 20:30, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent unreferenced edits from IP users. Hotwiki (talk) 07:17, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Hotwiki, we're not going to protect over two edits. Drmies (talk) 20:28, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – information about this article is rapidly changing. Arijit Kisku (talk) 08:25, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Drmies (talk) 20:25, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: The continued removal of sourced content from a single purpose IP user. On 15 November 2023, the page was protected for one week to require autoconfirmed or confirmed access, and this was intially successful, although the editor picked up their activity on 14 May 2024 and has made the same edit on four occasions from August 5th to August 7th without any explanation in the edit history. Attempts to receive an explanation have been unsuccessful in the past. Dobbyelf62 (talk) 10:15, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Drmies (talk) 20:32, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Adding false stations again by a unregistered editor. Page has also been added false stations June 11, 2024 onwards. 120.29.79.203 (talk) 10:32, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: I think we've reached a point where we are seeing non-stop promotional material from new users and I suggest semi-protection to this page since almost all edits from new accounts and IP appear to be spam links or non-RS. Thx. Alexeyevitch(talk) 11:06, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Recurring vandalism. Please provide semi-protection, at-least till 23rd Aug (National Space Day). Samuel Johnson (talk) 13:25, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism regarding his transfer status, requesting semi-protected status until current transfer situation is resolved. gingerlines (talk) 13:44, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Rolling IPs copying different article into this one. The same person vandalizing International Commerce Centre (the sister building). A page protection was added a few days ago to that article, this one needs also. This is a LTA involving many buildings, still researching extent. GreenC 15:17, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – There has been vandalism for the last few months by IPs and recently registered users. Felicia (talk) 15:35, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Falls under the purview of Wikipedia:Contentious topics/Arab–Israeli conflict. Bobby Cohn (talk) 15:44, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Dear admin,

I am writing to report you of vandalism regarding the page "List of awards and honours received by Muhammad Yunus" (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_awards_and_honours_received_by_Muhammad_Yunus#).

A user by the name Johnthedon69 has been adding inaccurate and inflammatory text such as "Help Israel to kill Palastanians" to this article. The subject, Dr Muhammad Yunus, has recently joined the interim government of Bangladesh with the goal of restoring democracy and false information such as this can seriously jeopardize his work and harm progress.

I have tried removing the false claims but the user keeps restoring them. I urge you to look into the matter and ban the user and lock this article from further edits.

    Regards, Zunaid. Zunaid2020 (talk) 15:46, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Constant spread of misinformation and removal of a native language by a specific user, Skitash. The user keeps removing any references to Berbers or their language and is misquoting as well as distorting the references and sources. 196.89.161.254 (talk) 17:46, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: BLP policy violations – IPs adding unsourced information, including death claims, to a BLP. DonIago (talk) 17:55, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism due to current political events going on within the subject. James Conan Niag (talk) 18:54, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
