Major pruning

[edit]

This article suffers from the presence of far to much detail, often unsourced, on the arguments for and against VSU. There will never be agreement on what should be included, and it serves little purpose to include it all here. I plan to dramatically remove much of this content. Those who are dedicated to find out more can follow the sources. Apart from fixing minor typos I've left behind, and other stuffups like that, please discuss any changes you want here before you make them. HiLo48 (talk) 03:45, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @HiLo48, following the announcement earlier this year that the federal government would be mandating a share of SSAF for all student unions has been seen as a beginning to unwinding VSU. I am planning to make an addition to the history of VSU in Australia if you are amiable. Additionally, I think it is worthwhile to make mention of the National Union of Student's (NUS) opposition to the introduction of VSU which included the release of a report detailing the impact that VSU had on student unions. Finally, I think it would be valuable to include the government's summary report on the impact of VSU as this provides a source for some of the claims regarding the impact of VSU. That "Report detailing the impact that VSU had on student unions" is behind a paywall. HiLo48 (talk) 07:00, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @HiLo48, I am not experiencing a pay wall when I open the link so apologies for the issues on your end. I managed to find the same report through another link, I hope that works for you. Otherwise, for your reference, information about the report is also available in the National Library of Australia catalogue. Salvationichor (talk) 07:10, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
