Project Israel To Do:

Here are some tasks awaiting attention:

Potential targeting of bios[edit]

Starting today, a user has raised issues with multiple bios written for people killed on October 7. There may be genuine notability issues with some of these articles, but they also suggested that Vivian Silver (which I wrote) be deleted. When I challenged this, they proposed deletions on two other articles I wrote, Negev Institute for Strategies of Peace and Development and Project Rozana, on the grounds they were part of a "legitimization campaign". I bring this up here to ensure other eyes are on these articles, especially if deletion nominations are made, since I can't be sure that this user is working in good faith.

The other bios that this user has raised issues with are Jayar Davidov, Roee Edan, Hayim Katsman, Roi Levy, Ofir Libstein, Izhar Peled, Yonatan Steinberg, and Yahav Winner. ForsythiaJo (talk) 22:24, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some of these individuals are clearly notable (like Vivian Silver, Jayar Davidov, etc.), while others may be more of an edge case, on one hand they are covered by reliable sources, but on the other hand most of that coverage is related to the October 7 events (see WP:BIO1E). Alaexis¿question? 15:24, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Are there good hebrew/israeli sources about Yehudit Karp (lawyer)?[edit]

I think what I found in English is enough to establish notability, but I am not happy about some of the sources and am looking for something higher quality. FortunateSons (talk) 09:34, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Hebrew article has many sources, including Haaretz and other newspapers. Lmk if you're looking for something specific. Alaexis¿question? 19:32, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the very kind offer, I’ll try working with translation and see if I can figure it out :) FortunateSons (talk) 19:44, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

depopulated Palestinian villages[edit]

Hello, the entries mentioned in List of towns and villages depopulated during the 1947–1949 Palestine war, List of villages depopulated during the Arab–Israeli conflict and Category:Villages depopulated during the Arab–Israeli conflict and other articles also in other languages do not have unified/appropriate properties in wikidata, about 20 out of the 600~ depopulated villages are clearly marked as such in wikidata, others are left as instances of "human settelment", "village" or "former human settlement", and with inconsistent (or non-existing property for) location, country ...etc, and a few have the properties relating to the timeframe of their depopulation. wikidata is still lacking/behind in some "technical" level such as describing the former population. But those still require consistency and inclusion of missing properties.

Adding appropriately consistent properties to the remaining hundreds of items as this is disregarded/underacknowledged information is vital for any general attempt for reflection/contextualization that is genuine. Uwe a (talk) 14:23, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Israel-Palestine and Indigeneity[edit]

The concept of Indigeneity is often invoked in contemporary discourse on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, but I don't see any article on the subject. Palestinians are often referred to as "Indigenous" by pro-Palestinian advocates and likewise Zionists often claim that Jewish people are "Indigenous" to the Land of Israel. I think there should be an article, but I'm not sure what the title should be. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 01:50, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A non-extended-confirmed editor (User:Dag21902190) has disputed my revert (on the basis of WP:PIA) of their changes at Ofer Winter. I see the need for updates but will not undo my revert due to other issues with the edits. I don't have the bandwidth to address this, and am therefore notifying the project. See discussion at User talk:Valereee#Non-XC edits re: Arab–Israeli conflict. Thanks, Wracking talk! 20:49, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I encourage further discussion (if there is any) to occur here or at Talk:Ofer Winter to avoid bugging Valereee. Thanks, Wracking talk! 20:51, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback: Regional history of the Negev[edit]

Hi,
User:Alaexis has asked me to draft something on the agricultural history of the Negev. Since there is no comprehensive history of the Negev that would have been necessary for this (and since the short sections on the history on the Negev page do not align with current research), I have now drafted a regional history of the Negev with a stronger focus on land use. Alexis thinks the page is ready for promotion to the mainspace. I am unsure for two reasons which are noted on the draft page. Would anyone like to give some feedback on this? DaWalda (talk) 13:49, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
