Inquiry Regarding Deletion of Draft: Raghav Khanna

[edit]

Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. I recently contributed an article about Raghav Khanna, an Indian producer, but it was deleted shortly after being submitted. The draft was marked as promotional or advertising material, which came as a surprise to me. I intended to document Mr. Khanna's contributions to the Indian film and entertainment industry, drawing from reliable sources, including interviews, publications, and media coverage.

My goal was not to promote Mr. Khanna but to provide an accurate and well-rounded account of his work and impact on the industry. I believe his achievements are noteworthy and deserve a place on Wikipedia.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how I can revise the article to better adhere to Wikipedia's guidelines and ensure it meets the standards of neutrality and verifiability. Your feedback would be incredibly helpful as I work to contribute more effectively to Wikipedia.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Arpitam03 (talk) 10:04, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on user talk page: COI, no proper refs, promotional tone. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:57, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I had linked IMDB pages for his work as well as news articles. Arpitam03 (talk) 12:50, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Arpitam03 Please read the guidance on your talk page. The imdb was an external link, not a reference, and in any case an imdb page for a film he wrote and direct isn't exactly an independent third-party source. And what you call "news articles" are actually interviews with him, also not an independent source. And you still haven't declared your COI as required Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:22, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unfair deletion of User:Invisiboy42293/Body Void

[edit]

Hate to be like this but the deletion of my draft for User:Invisiboy42293/Body Void makes no sense. It was not "Unambiguous advertising or promotion" - I have no connection to the band and there was no promotional text on the page, or much prose at all beyond the lead sentence - nor was it "Misuse of Wikipedia as a web host" - it was a userspace draft, something I and countless Wikipedians have made many times to draft articles, and it wasn't even up for two hours before getting deleted. It was an article in development, and I can't think of anything about the formatting or sourcing that would've warranted this. I also was given no notice on my user talk page, something I'm given to understand is required for deletions like this. I genuinely don't understand this, as none of my other userspace drafts have been spontaneously deleted like this (even ones that probably had cause to be), and I would like either a better explanation or, if warranted, an undeletion. Fair enough, I'll restore and remove the U5 tag Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:54, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Shahmee Saheedh

[edit]

Hi Jimfbleak. Since you deleted Shahmee Saheedh a few weeks back, I'm wondering if you could take a look at Draft:Shahmee Saheedh. The same user created both, and perhaps there's no harm no foul as long as they don't try to move the draft to the mainspace. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:12, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Marchjuly I've excised a fair bit of the self-praise too, let's see... Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:43, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Taighde Eireann page

[edit]

Hi Jim, could the page added for Taighde Eireann be restored please? It was deleted for being unambigous but this is a government research funding agency in Ireland. The current information on the page is limited as two organisations (Science Foundation Ireland and Irish Research Council) are in the process of amalgamating. More information will be added to the page in the coming weeks. Wikilosci (talk) 10:26, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikilosci why are you wasting my time here when you just went ahead and recreated the same non-compliant text as before as a draft? Which has, of course, been declined again. You cannot expect an unreferenced text dumps to be accepted, you also need to show notability as defined in the link. Also, ou have an obvious conflict of interest and you must declare it. If you work directly or indirectly for an organisation, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at Jimfbleak. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jimfbleak|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:34, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jim. First time building a page. Apologies - i can see the issue with citations. Let me resolve this. Wikilosci (talk) 09:27, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Wikilosci: you've copypasted the template from the above message a bit too literally, it now says on User:Wikilosci that Jimfbleak works for ResearchIreland (which could be true, I supposed, but not what you needed to disclose). -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:46, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Wikilosci and DoubleGrazing:, I've fixed the declaration code, and in the interest of transparency I'll confirm that I don't work for that organisation (: Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:55, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies! Thank you for fixing. Wikilosci (talk) 10:03, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Haha! :) I don't work for them, either (not that anyone asked, but just wanted to volunteer that). I'm sure it's a perfectly decent organisation to work for, though. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:30, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Abdullah Al Mamun (cricketer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Un-salting Jeonghan

[edit]

Hi Jimfbleak, I wanted to reach out about an article that was repeatedly recreated five years ago, Jeonghan. I'm not at all questioning that decision as at that point the subject certainly would not have yet warranted an article. However, it has been a long time since then, and he now meets many of the notability guidelines at WP:SINGER so I was hoping we could un-salt the article space. There's a draft at Draft:Jeonghan which covers his career to date, including significant coverage in Korean, Japanese and global media. Orangesclub (talk) 03:23, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on user talk page, self-praise with mainly junk refs Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:18, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mr. Bleak, I would appreciate reconsideration of our article for the Deutschheim Verein, which supports the Missouri Deutschheim State Historic Site. I don't see how the text can be claimed as merely an "advertisement"; frankly, there are many organizations mentioned on Wikipedia that are far less deserving, such as the Missouri Germans Consortium, which has a membership of one person. We are officially recognized by the State of Missouri. We publish a scholarly journal, Der Maibaum, and educate the public about the historic and cultural contributions of our state's German immigrants. Without them, for instance, Missouri would have seceded from the United States during the Civil War. Although now a mere public high school English and journalism teacher, I am a published author and have been a professional editor and journalist, so I believe the text I sent was relatively free from error. If you want the entry to be shorter, that could always be arranged. Thank you.--Jim Muench 67.6.214.77 (talk) 01:00, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
