It says on the wikipedia that Mt. K2 is a part of Pakistan, wherein it is actually a part of India. Even from ages it has always been a part of India Shadedhruva (talk) 08:28, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Conflicting info: Death rate

[edit]

2nd paragraph states "K2 is the deadliest; approximately one person dies on the mountain for every four who reach the summit."

However, the next paragraph states 96 deaths and 800 summits. This would be closer to one in eight. Rlchv70 (talk) 16:36, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was just going to point this out, too. Looking at the edit history, it seems like the issue is that the sources are from different dates: some time recently, someone or other changed the figures citing a source titled "Is K2, the "Savage Mountain," Becoming Less Savage?", which says a spate of successful attempts occurred recently. One way of cleaning things up would be to move the two mentions of the death rate to be in the same paragraph and clarify with dates: "Prior to YEAR, approximately one person died on the mountain for every four who reached the summit. After an increase in successful attempts, as of 2023 an estimated 800 people have summited the mountain and 96 have died." -sche (talk) 16:54, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What does everyone think of this, with dates (qualifying the death rates) from the Less Savage source? -sche (talk) 17:02, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
