Atilim University (In Turkish: Atılım Üniversitesi) is a private university established in 1997. It is located in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. The language of instruction for most courses is English. Education programs are at international standards (e.g. ABET 2000).

Atilim University was founded on 15 July 1997 by Atilim Foundation, which was established in 1996. It was founded to serve as a Foundation University in the capacity of a legal entity pursuant to provisions of Law no. 2547 concerning the Foundation of Higher Education Institutes.[citation needed]

Atılım University is located on 250 acres of land in İncek, Gölbaşı, 20 km from the City Centre and 7 km from the motorway. The campus contains faculty buildings, laboratories, conference halls, basketball and volleyball facilities, a gymnasium, tennis courts, a condition hall, a swimming pool, cafeterias, cafes, and outdoor recreation areas.

Atilim University is considered to be among the best Universities in Turkey, the leading programs in Atilim University are Business Administration, Engineering and English Translation and Interpretation. [4]

Atılım University is one of the oldest foundations (private and non-profit) universities, established in 1996 in Ankara, the capital of Turkey It offers high-quality education at European Standards (Bologna Process) and is recognized through world university rankings. It offers globally accredited degrees and diplomas with a diploma supplement award by the EU. It is one of the leading and growing private universities with its innovative institutions in Turkey. Atılım University is a well-known foundation university between private universities in its region and worldwide through its remarkable collaborations with universities based on exchange and international mobility programs. The main strength of Atılım University is to take part in domestic and international rankings based on leading ranking institutions in terms of global, regional, and subject perspectives.[5]

Founded in Ankara with the purpose of being a university which “provides high quality education, produces science and technology, conducts research and enlightens the future of our country”, Atılım University takes firm steps to attain its target and even carry it one step further. Atılım University’s goal is to develop individuals capable of attaining and putting to use the universal information required in the age of technology; individuals who are knowledgeable and experienced in their respective fields, able to work as team members, and are not afraid of competition. In addition, they will operate in close relationship with the international community while being able to protect and preserve artistic, cultural, and historical values; and be sensitive towards environmental issues while being dynamic, inquisitive, and aware of their country’s problems. Atılım University is located on 250 acres of land in İncek, one of Ankara's most recent and fastest developing residential areas, 20 km from the City Centre and 7 km from the highway. The campus contains faculty buildings, laboratories, conference halls, basketball and volleyball fields, a gymnasium, tennis courts, a condition hall, a swimming pool, recreation areas where outdoor activities are also carried out, cafeterias and restaurants. Atılım University has the 4th largest university library in Ankara. Our library aims to create team spirit, service, and perfection within itself, enable the library users to produce and the information and to create a learning society. [8]

Atılım University promotes internationalization both in education and in campus life with a multinational environment and participative approach. It offers exchange, internship and international mobility programs in EU countries and other parts of the world. International students are from over 70 different countries all over the world including Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, the Balkans, the Gulf Region, and the Caucasus. The University employs internationally experienced and renowned staff. In most of the academic programs, the medium of instruction is English. [9]

Atılım University is a prominent and leading research university with more than 180+ state-of-the-art laboratories and a unique Metal Forming Center of Excellence (MFCE) which is one of the 5 comparable centers all over the world. The University promotes a student-centred approach and hands-on training in education and research. The Technology Development Center (TEKMER), the Hangar in Esenboğa International Airport in cooperation, the Scientific Research Projects (BAP) as the research support program offering funds for scholars, the Research Laboratory Projects (ALP) as the program offering funds to establish new laboratories and to turn them into prospective research and the Undergraduate Research Project (LAP) as the research support program offering funds for undergraduate students are among the research and technology opportunities offered at Atılım University. Atılım University has 54 student clubs and societies.[11]

Atılım University is a sister university to the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas and 31 European universities in Germany, Sweden, Belgium, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and the Netherlands. These universities are collaborating with Atılım University under the scope of Erasmus Programme. Atılım is also among the Erasmus University Charter universities.[12]
