The major disadvantages regarding microform(i,e microfilm and microfiche)is that it is costly to maintain keeping in mind the financial position of libraries especially in developing countries and also the non-availibility of technical staff as well as lack of awareness from users side.

I removed a microfilm company's link. I hope this doesn't become a war; it was not malicious.

The microfilm scanning business is very competitive and companies should not have free advertisements here on Wikipedia. There is nothing distinguishing about a particular company from other companies. There are hundreds of vendors and resellers in the microfilm conversion/scanning (film-->TIFF) industry. Why choose a specific one? The only external links should be about the history and technical process of microfilming. The current two links are great. Again, companies already spend thousands of dollars on advertising; Wikipedia should not be a free advertising venue. I will have an open mind to a civil debate if someone would like to justify choosing that specific company.-DH

Merge to microform

[edit]

I suggest we merge this article and Microfilm with Microform. The articles are practically identical, and the distinctions will probably mean more in comparison with the other media. --Mdresser 03:27, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
