The article should not be moved to wiktionary. There is much to say about the vow of poverty, especially with regard to the history of Christian monastic orders during the Middle Ages. Burschik 14:32, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Article needs restoring and expert attention

[edit]

The re-direct to "simple living" is mistaken; and I have therefore removed it. The Christian vow of poverty – vow of poverty – is one of the three Evangelical Counsels and taken in imitation of the kenosis of Christ, a point that merits expounding.
Alternatively, re-direct to Evangelical Counsels (which I have now done, if only as a temporary measure) and there make sub-headings for each of the three vows individually (viz. chastity, poverty, obedience).
